Here's how to avoid buying junk food when grocery shopping:
- Make your grocery list as thorough as possible. Keep your focus on the list, and nothing but the list (corporal).
- Put your list in order of how you walk through the store - This will deter side trips to that luscious bakery filled with croissants, hydrogenated fats, jacked up preservatives and drool-worthy donuts that apparently are baked 24 / flipping 7.
- Change up your grocery route! If you are hitting carb/box land 1st, guess what your cart is going to be filled with?! Here's the order I follow:
- Produce
- Bulk
- Protein/Meat
- Dairy
- Frozen
- Center Aisles - Food in these will stay good for 10 years because most of it isn't real food. By this point, your cart should look fabulously full with real ingredients - yay!
- Breads
- CrackerVille
